What is Stasher?

What exactly is silicone, and why is it better than plastic?
Silicone is made from sand (silica) and oxygen, natural resources that give Stasher bags the purity of glass and the functionality of plastic. Better yet, Stasher products are made of 100% pure platinum grade silicone - a standard even higher than food grade silicone, passing all U.S. safety requirements and even tougher than European standards. Can Stasher be used only for food storage?
No! Stasher bags are great not only for food storage, but also for cooking and storing items for travel! The sandwich sized bags are wonderful! The clear window on each bag offers a TSA approved view of contents, making them appropriate to pass airport security with travel-size liquids.
They are GREAT for sous vide cooking, and much less wasteful than using traditional plastic bags. They are water tight and can withstand temperatures up to 400° F. They are also wonderful for microwave steaming!
How hard is it to clean, though?
So simple! You can wash it by hand with soap and water, and set it aside to air dry. Or you can pop into the top rack of your dish washer (maybe onto one or two of the pegs to keep it open). Just don't flip the bag inside out, as this can compromise the sealed edges.
How big are Stashers?
The sandwich bag holds 15 fluid ounces and perfectly fits a sandwich, half a grapefruit, or two small chicken breasts.
The snack bag holds 9.9 fluid ounces and fits a halved avocado.
The half-gallon storage bag holds 64.2 fluid ounces and will fit two strip steaks or an entire bundle of asparagus.
